A drawer full of good plans and good intentions alone are no guarantee
for change to happen. Telling people about the dream or plans you
have, and keeping them in mind, is important, but you will need
courage, resilience, dedication and perseverance just as much.
Not to mention time, money and (wo)manpower. Change will involve
falling seven times, and getting up just as many times. As a team,
and as an individual.
It is said of the legendary Buddhist monk Bodhidarma that without
interruption he meditated for years inside a dark cave, on his
quest for enlightenment. He did not blink with his eyes for quite
a long time, until, at one point, he almost fell asleep. Without
hesitation he cut of his eyelids, so as to be able to persevere
in his effort. Quite a feat of self-discipline and persistence!
When assisting in projectmanagement or when leading processes, we
strive to work with enthusiasm, inspiration and competence that is
already present. Our own enthusiasm, inspiration and competence are
connected to organizing, getting started and leading processes that
require a lot of personal, face-to-face interaction.
